Function
A single-function tall building is defined as one where 85% or more of its usable floor area is dedicated to a single usage. Thus a building with 90% office floor area would be said to be an "office" building, irrespective of other minor functions it may also contain.

550 Vanderbilt is part of Pacific Park, Brooklyn’s newest neighborhood and conceived by architect Frank Gehry. It is a 22-acre site with 15 buildings of mixed use development offering more than 6,000 affordable, rental and condominium homes, retail stores, restaurants, offices and hotel. There is 8-acres of open public space with kids play areas, lawns, basketball court, dog runs, public art and other activities.
