The Synergy Tower: A New Typology for a Sustainable Future

As a young internet company, communication and change are the most important considerations in NHN’s corporate image and work as the most important concept in the design of their new headquarters building. Wide open layouts in typical floor plans and communication zones on the fourth floor were designed to foster better communication and integration among employees.
The louvers placed on the façade create the overall image for the building. The louvers, which operate individually, convey a feeling of a canvas that constantly changes the building’s front façade to represent the image of the continually changing young company. The west façade is planned as the main façade to convey the corporate image to a far distance, as the building can be easily recognized from the express highways to the west. Further, the whole building can be used for events by attaching pictures on the louvers to transform the building into an art box. From a practical standpoint, the integrated vertical louvers also provide a pleasant working environment by controlling the sunshine and shade to individual user comforts.
