Located in the Tianhe Central Business District of Guangzhou – one of southern China’s largest and most active commercial centers – stands TaiKoo Hui Tower 1. As part of a larger five-component, mixed-use development just north of Tianhe Road and west of Tianhe Dong Road, TaiKoo Hui Tower 1 is the tallest of the complex’s two office towers.
The tower’s design is predominantly rectangular with wedges cut out of its southeastern and northwestern corners, giving the tower a defined presence on its most prominent street entrance along Tianhe Road. It sports a blue reflective glass façade interrupted by a series of vertical steel mullions that add tempo and regularity to the tower’s otherwise uniform exterior. The double-height ground floor is equipped with clear transparent glazing, offering passersby a modest peek of the building’s entrance lobby, which features an eye-catching array of solid white columns.
Notably, the podium roof contains over 8,000 square meters of landscaped gardens, offering a comfortable and pleasant environment for leisure and recreational activities. Other environmentally friendly features include indirect lighting systems with adjustable illumination levels and large double-glazed low-e glass curtain walls to ensure maximum natural light penetration with minimal energy loss, heat gain, and noise.
Together, the TaiKoo Hui Complex’s two office towers provide tenants with over 160,000 square meters of premium Grade A office space. Both towers also connect internally to a shopping mall, a 5-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the Guangzhou Metro system, and the local Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, allowing patrons quick and easy access to a variety of amenities and the city at large.
