The main contractor is the supervisory contractor of all construction work on a project, management of sub-contractors and vendors, etc. May be referred to as "Construction Manager," however, for consistency CTBUH uses the term "Main Contractor" exclusively.
The distinctive form of the Terminal 21 complex was based upon the three-part Thai orchid, which allowed the tower to take on a unique shape while providing pleasing views for the 20 stories of apartments and hotel rooms above the podium. Traditional Thai motifs were incorporated into the building façade to connect to the local culture, including the roof spire, which is a reference to the Thai “chedi,” or religious tower.
The nine-story retail and recreation podium offers a wide array of amenities as well as wide open spaces. It includes not only a variety of retail options, but also cinemas, tennis and basketball courts, a playground, swimming pool, fitness center, spa, and outdoor landscaped space. The entrance at street level features a four-story cable net curtain wall that provides panoramic views of the surrounding area.
