The main contractor is the supervisory contractor of all construction work on a project, management of sub-contractors and vendors, etc. May be referred to as "Construction Manager," however, for consistency CTBUH uses the term "Main Contractor" exclusively.
Other Consultant refers to other organizations which provided significant consultation services for a building project (e.g. wind consultants, environmental consultants, fire and life safety consultants, etc).
These are firms that consult on the design of a building's façade. May often be referred to as "Cladding," "Envelope," "Exterior Wall," or "Curtain Wall" Consultant, however, for consistency CTBUH uses the term "Façade Consultant" exclusively.
This mixed-use development at Chicony Plaza provides 12 floors of retail space and 25 floors of hotel and meeting area. The massing of the building was driven primarily by the site context; to the northwest of the building lies a pedestrian plaza which provides direct access to the retail podium of the building. The hotel tower was positioned at the south edge of the site in order to minimize the shadows cast across the plaza while providing unobstructed views for guests and a strong vertical expression for the complex.
The façade design comprises opaque white and clear vision glazing, contrasted with a play of volumes that relate to the pedestrian scale and allow natural light into the interior spaces. Operable windows promote the use of natural ventilation while remaining inconspicuous on the planes of the façade. Atop the retail podium and stepped volumes of the hotel are thickly planted roof gardens which are accessible to building users, providing a pleasant outdoor experience which relates to the nearby open public areas.
